CANBERRA, Australia -- South Korea's Jiyai Shin won the ISPS Handa Women's Australian Open by two shots Sunday, finishing with a 1-under 72 to beat world No. 1 Yani Tseng after being tied for the overnight lead with teenage star Lydia Ko.

Shin mixed three birdies with two bogeys on the par-73 Royal Canberra layout in a final-round showdown with Ko and Tseng of Taiwan, and added the Australian title to her two British Opens among 37 professional victories.

Ko's share of the lead evaporated quickly when she began the final day with a double bogey and bogey. However, the 15-year-old who was born in South Korea and is based in New Zealand fought back to reclaim the joint lead after 13 holes before Shin dismissed the challenge.

Shin effectively clinched her victory on the 14th hole when, tied with Ko at 16 under, she holed an incredible pitch from deep rough behind an advertising billboard to make birdie.

''I'm really surprised,'' Shin said. ''There are so many good players here, so I'm really happy to play well. I can't explain at the moment. I just feel excited.''

Ko finished 3 over for the day and 14 under for the tournament, in outright third place. She was trying for back-to-back wins in professional tournaments after winning last week's New Zealand Women's Open.

Ko has won three professional tournaments in the last 13 months, taking the New South Wales Open to become the youngest winner of a professional event, then winning the CN Canadian Open to become the youngest winner on the LPGA Tour. She struggled to overcome her poor start Sunday and was never able to comfortably settle into her final round.

''I had a few struggles with my drives but, I can't play good every single round,'' Ko said. ''Third in a professional event is a pretty good result and I can't say I'm not fully pleased.''

Meanwhile, Tseng shot the best round of the last day -- a 7-under 66 -- to dash past Ko into second place, two shots behind Shin.

''I was always feeling good here and I tried my best today,'' Tseng said. ''I got some pretty good lucky bounces, too. I didn't drive as well as the last few days, but I got some good bounces, some good kicks on the fairway, hit a tree, bounced on the fairway so it's kind of really lucky.''

CENTURION, South Africa -- For his eighth tournament in eight weeks, Darren Fichardt is understandably taking things a bit easier than normal ahead of the European Tour’s inaugural Tshwane Open, which gets underway on Thursday.

"The Els Club Copperleaf is 10 minutes from my home, so it's really great to sleep in my own bed during tournament week," said Fichardt who won the Africa Open in East London on Feb. 17.

The tournament, which is co-sanctioned with southern Africa’s Sunshine Tour, is the latest such event to be played in South Africa, and victory for Fichardt would make him the first player since Branden Grace burst on to the scene to win two consecutive European Tour events.

"After so many tournaments in a row, I'm not hitting as many balls on the range in preparation for this week," said Fichardt. "It's great to have a European Tour event in my home town.

"There's been a really nice swing of tournaments in South Africa, so hopefully I can finish it off nicely. I'm sure all the guys are really going to enjoy playing at Copperleaf," he added. "It's designed by Ernie and is in very good condition, especially the greens which are unbelievable. It's also very long, so to have a good week you're going to need your driver to perform well.

"As it's quite an exposed course, there's normally a little bit of wind to keep you on your toes. It's definitely going to be hot and humid and with a pretty high chance of some thunderstorms, so there could be a few weather disruptions," he explained. "But I'm sure it's going to be a great week and I'll have some friends and family coming along, so hopefully I can give them something to shout about."

His victory in East London was Fichardt's fourth European Tour title after holding off compatriot Jaco van Zyl and Frenchman Gregory Bourdy to prevail by two strokes. He followed up that victory with a top-10 finish behind Van Zyl in last week's Dimension Data Pro-Am on the Sunshine Tour, and so is understandably confident of continuing his fine form.

And a lot of that form has been shown on the greens: His putting has been pretty impressive.

"It takes a lot of pressure off the rest of your game," he said. "You don't have to try and get your iron shots so close to the pin, and that helps if they're in tough positions."

That putting could be very useful on the 7,791-yard Copperleaf layout: While he is 71st in driving distance (289.4 yards) on the European Tour, he is ninth in putts per greens in regulation (1.691) – only Garth Mulroy in the field is ahead of him in that count. He also averages 6.35 one-putts per round.

　国内女子ツアー「SANKYOレディースオープン」が今年は群馬県の吉井カントリークラブに舞台を移し8日(金)開幕を迎える。赤城CCで開催された昨年大会は宮里藍が最終日に5打差をひっくり返し逆転。3年ぶりの国内ツアー勝利を挙げた。今大会はディフェンディングチャンピオンの宮里は出場しないものの、上田桃子、諸見里しのぶ、横峯さくら、有村智恵らに加え、アン・ソンジュ、全美貞(ジョン・ミジョン)ら今季ツアーを席巻している韓国勢も顔を揃え、浅間山から運んだ溶岩がコースを取り囲み視覚的にプレッシャーを与える難コースを舞台に熱戦の予感が漂う。

　　シーズンも終盤に差し掛かり賞金女王争いも本格化。今大会は優勝賞金が1,980万円と女子ツアーとしては高く、栄冠を手にすることが出来れば一気に女王争いに浮上することが出来る。現在アン・ソンジュが2位の横峯さくらに約2,200万円の大差をつけて独走しているが今大会を終えてこのランキングがどう変化しているかにも注目だ。2年連続賞金女王を目指す横峯さくらは10時15分に1番ティスタート、有村智恵は9時57分、上田桃子は10時06分にそれぞれ1番ホールからスタートとなっている。

＜三井住友VISA太平洋マスターズ　最終日◇13日◇太平洋クラブ御殿場コース(7,246ヤード・パー72)＞

　静岡県にある太平洋クラブ御殿場コースで開催された、国内男子ツアー「三井住友VISA太平洋マスターズ」の最終日。松山英樹が史上3人目となるアマチュア優勝。2位は谷口徹、3位タイには小田孔明、チャール・シュワーツェル(南アフリカ)、ベ・サンムン(韓国)らが入った。

　2位の谷口は、最終18番でイーグルを奪取するも「せめてもう一発、パットが入っていたら展開は変わったのになぁ」と悔しそうに語る。優勝した松山については「パターが上手いね。あぶないのも入れていた。最初からアマチュアだとは思って相手してなかったけどね。スケールもでかい。いつでも来いや(笑)プロに」と声をかけた。

　今日6つスコアを伸ばした小田は「7打差あったからね。ちょっとずつでも詰めていきたかったけど(勝てなかったら)一緒です」と淡々と話した。また「松山はいずれ勝つ選手だと思ってましたから。来年、プロになるかどうかわかりませんが、また新たなやつが現れたなって感じですね。若い選手がどんどん出てくるのは自分にとっていい刺激になります」と松山の優勝を喜んだ。

　サンムンは「今日は難しかった。風が難しかった」と気まぐれな風に苦労したが、着実にスコアを2つ伸ばして見せた。来週が国内ツアー最終戦となるが「一番大きな試合ですから、調子が良ければチャンスはあると思います」と賞金王へ向けて意気込みを語った。

　「御殿場コースとは相性がいいと思う」と話したのは谷昭範。この日は5つスコアを伸ばし3位タイでフィニッシュ。「今週でシードが確定したので、来週からピンを狙っていける。思い切ってプレーします」とコメントした。

＜三井住友VISA太平洋マスターズ　最終日◇13日◇太平洋クラブ御殿場コース(7,246ヤード・パー72)＞

　静岡県にある太平洋クラブ御殿場コースで開催された、国内男子ツアー「三井住友VISA太平洋マスターズ」の最終日。首位とは7打差14位タイでスタートした石川遼は、前半こそスコアを伸ばせなかったが、後半にチャージをかけ、17番パー3ではホールインワンを達成。8位タイに終わったものの、多くのギャラリーを沸かせた。

　4番アイアンで放ったボールは、グリーン手前にオンするとそのままゆっくりとカップに吸い込まれ大歓声が上がった。石川自身「思ったより強く飛んだ。もしかしたらオーバーかな」と思ったが、17番のグリーン上では大きな拍手で迎えられ、半信半疑でカップをのぞいた。ツアー2度目のホールインワンだ。

　この日は出だしの1番でボギーが先行。2番、3番で連続バーディを奪うが、4番パー3ではティショットを池に入れてしまい痛恨のダブルボギー。6番でバーディを奪い、トータル4アンダーで折り返すが、首位との差を縮めることはできず後半に入った。

　それでも10番、11番で意地のバーディを奪った石川。16番が終わったときには首位とは3打差まで詰め寄り「厳しい状況だったが17番でバーディ、18番でイーグルを奪おう」と気合いを入れ直す。だが、興奮冷めやらない17番のあと「あきらめてはダメ。冷静になろう」と誓うが、18番パー5のセカンドで手痛いミス。177ヤードを8番アイアンで狙いに行くが、手前の池に入れてしまい今大会が終わった。

　「序盤のミスは響きましたね。最後の18番のミスも。悔しさのほうが残る」最後まで粘りを見せるが、首位に並ぶことはできなかった石川。だが、表情は清々しく充実した最終日を振り返った。来週はオーストラリアで開催される「ザ・プレジデンツカップ」する。「大きな1週間になると思う。準備はできているのでチームのために頑張りたい。自分のゴルフをしっかり向上させてたい」と意気込みを語った。

　優勝はアマチュアの松山英樹。松山についていは「負けたのは悔しいけど、勝てるゴルフをしていた。勝てるチャンスに勝つというのはすごいこと」と祝福の言葉を述べ、ジュニアのころから一緒にプレーしてきた仲間の優勝を喜んだ。

　国内男子ツアー「ダンロップフェニックス」。先週の「三井住友VISA太平洋マスターズ」で史上3人目のアマチュア優勝を達成した松山英樹は、月曜に続きこの日も精力的に練習ラウンドを行った。コースでは先輩プロや、フェニックスチャレンジで来場した古閑美保らから「おめでとう」などと声をかけられ笑顔も多く見られた。

　しかし、ラウンド中はティショットが曲がる場面が多く、本人も「ブン曲がってましたね。調子が落ちすぎてビックリした。テンションが上がらないですね」とあきらめ顔。フェニックスCC独特の洋芝にも「初めてやる芝ですね。しっかり打ってるつもりなんですけど」と対応に苦しんだ様子だ。それでも数々の大舞台で結果を残してきているだけに、今大会でも松山にかかる期待は大きい。明日一日でどこまで仕上げて本戦に臨むことが出来るか。

　松山は初日小田孔明、プラヤド・マークセン(タイ)と同組で10番から9時15分スタートとなっている。
